HOSPITALITY - ARCHITECTURE & INTERIOR DESIGN PROJECT

Located within the historic walls of Lagos, this project transformed an old manor house into an intimate boutique hotel that blends the charm of the past with the comfort of contemporary living. The renovation sought to preserve the soul of the original architecture while introducing a new spatial rhythm, refined details, and a sense of timeless elegance. The interior design embraces a retro-chic style, where modern lines coexist harmoniously with restored vintage elements, preserving the building’s original character. Original wooden floors were carefully recovered, bringing warmth and authenticity to the rooms. Featuring twenty uniquely designed rooms in four distinct styles, most of the twenty rooms feature private balconies or terraces, offering views over the city and the sea. Among them, one stands out — a distinctive suite that features a freestanding bathtub placed on a travertine platform, creating a serene and sculptural focal point. Across the hotel, materials were chosen to reflect the identity of the Algarve. Traditional hydraulic tiles and Santa Catarina ceramics, characteristic of the region, were used extensively, lending texture, colour, and a strong sense of place. The furniture combines bespoke, custom-designed pieces with restored vintage items, particularly in the reception area and breakfast room, where the atmosphere feels both welcoming and sophisticated. Each detail turns this project in a combination of craftsmanship, history, and contemporary aesthetics in perfect balance.
